Sometimes the tried and true is just fabulous. This month's issue of Architectural Digest features a home in Maine decorated by one of my favorite designers, Suzanne Kassler. It is so perfect in its blue and whites that I want to crawl into the pages and let its perfection envelop me. I am so inspired by her application of this classic color scheme, that I won't rest until I can do a blue and white room. By the way blue is a color most men like so it's a great option for couples. Preppy and cheerful, blue and white never goes out of style.
I love this living room. It's easy to do something similar at various price points. Start with a tailored white sectional, add a graphic blue, white and beige rug, a few navy and white pillows, navy ceramic gourd lamps and curtain panels in a blue and white print. Mahogany or even painted black french door frames and black curtain rods are factors that take this room to over the top chic.
The casual dining area features a settee upholstered in the same fabric as the curtain panels and the dark wood interiors of the shelves really set off the blue and white porcelain pieces beautifully.
If you read my blog regularly, you know how crazy I am about navy kitchen cabinets. Here is yet more proof that it works!
Loving these slipper chairs upholstered in the same fabric as the curtains but toughened up with a bit of nailhead trim. And remember that rug I found at HomeGoods on Friday? Check out this rug....
This bedroom that 3 boys share is darling in its Serena and Lily wallpaper. Orange accents with the blue and white make the room young and fresh and fun:
