While making my daily run to Fresh Market (I think I am their best customer!), I was excited to see an old flower friend nestled among the roses and orchids. The sight of this flower brought a smile to my lips and without thinking, I picked up the small bundle and drew it close. I inhaled the fragrance and was instantly back in Fox Valley, Pennsylvania on a cool spring morning, my feet wet from the dewy grass. I crouched down and grasped the sturdy flower in my chubby 7 year old hand and snipped the stiff green stem with the scissors. The flower was the most beautiful thing I had seen and I couldn't wait to take it to my teacher, wrapped in a soggy paper towel with aluminum foil. It also reminded me of the homemade bouquets of daffodils that I used to love to take to my teachers in the springtime. So today, I am dreaming of spring-like rooms inspired by these humble flowers full of the freshness and innocence of youth.
I could go on and on...but I'm late for a meeting! Happy spring!
