Maybe it's the "re opening of Cuba". (Not getting into the politics, just the impact on the design world.) Or maybe it's the fact that everyone seems to be loving the color green again after years of blues and grays. Or maybe we are craving a touch of old glamour? Whatever the reason, we are having a Carmen Miranda moment.
Okay, I realize some of you are thinking "where is she going with this one?" "I am not about to wear fruit on my head!" For those of you who have been biding your time until vivid color in interiors is back in style, your wait is over! That's not to say that you need to run out and redo your cool, serene, gray and white, if you love it. Rather, if you are a color girl and have been slightly apologetic about your red, green, yellow rooms ,have confidence in your style! If you'd like to add some tropical zing to your rooms, try using a banana leaf paper in your powder room, along with a gold mirror and perhaps a black and white marble tile floor. Here is a photo of rooms with this paper:
If that's too much of a commitment for you, try painting a wall or room in high gloss red, throw down a jute or seagrass rug and sprinkle with gold metal accents. Season with a pillow or two in Islamorada Spring fabric by Brunschwig :
Still hesitating? Then dip your toe into this hot style by replacing a floral bouquet with oversized palm or banana leaves.
Happy Friday. Hope your weekend sizzles!
